The series of paintings represents my family tree from my own self portrait through ancestors who migrated to North America in the mid 1600's-1700's. Advisory groups school wide will be invited to help pick a favorite artist during the month of March.
Each day, I will share two competing artists and will gather votes via a daily google form ballot! Thank you for your continued support of our artists and they would all love to have you show your support by stopping by the art shows!

Every March I love to fill the morning announcements with my favorite arts education quotes. In the last few years I have started creating quote posters for my classroom and hallways. My creative side loves to share quotes from artists, famous people and my fellow educators on the importance of art education with a bit of artistic flair. I would love to make your favorite quotes on a poster... What are your favorite #artsed quotes? Add a comment with your favorite quote and I might just make you a poster to share!
Guest readers were district Administrators, James Madison President, City Councilman, School Board Member, Musician, Community Leaders, Realtor, DJs, and educators. Books were shared in Spanish, English and even through song. Readers included: Daniel Kirwan (principal), Laura Feichtinger McGrath, Joanne Gabbin, President Alger, Gary Painter, Kathy Holter, Matt Hassman, Ron Ornstein, Jonathan Ruppel, Holly Bess Kincaid, Abe Shearer, JR Snow, Joe Glick, Brent Holsinger, Brandy Lindsey, Isabel Castillo, Molly Murphy, Margot Zahner, Sandy Parks, Ritchie Vaughan, Jessica Pyle The arts and reading are vehicles to transport our students through their imagination to learn about cultures, people, far off lands and imagine worlds beyond our own. "Art is a place kids travel to, where they feel good about themselves. Keep their passport current." Fred Babb, author and artist To learn more about: I invite you in March to read aloud to a child, support the arts by going to your local Youth Art Month Exhibits and continue to celebrate creativity!
Skyline Artists: Currently several students have had their masterpieces on display in art shows in our region, California and Nebraska.
Congratulations to those students for their hard work and creative pieces that will represent our school! We are the first school to display DIGITAL iPad Paintings in an Art Show locally! Our Seventh grade art students submitted four 2’ square painted pieces for display this month. The 2 pieces will travel to San Diego, CA to be on display at the National Art Education Convention, 2 pieces will travel to Nebraska to be on display at an Air & Space Museum, and all 4 will be part of the Dream Rocket Art Installation in Alabama next year, coming together with students around the globe to create a quilt that will cover the Saturn V Rocket! (The rocket is taller than the statue of liberty!) Congratulations to Carrieanna Blanchette for her Youth Art Month Flag Design being chosen as the Middle Division winner for the state! VAEA honored her with a certificate of her accomplishment and a large digital print of her design. Good Luck to all our students who submitted designs for the Doodle4Google contest this year. The graphic designs were heart felt and produced with great craftsmanship. Look for the national winner in May!
Lots of events to celebrate the arts happened in the Ranger Lair this week... Monday we sent off our creative entries into the Doodle 4 Google Contest. Congratulations and good luck to all our Rangers for putting their best effort into their creative logo designs. We celebrated Youth Art Month with our CCISD District Art Show held at the Clear Lake Arts Alliance Center in Nasau Bay! The students loved seeing their art on display and one student said "Ms K this is the best day of my life!" Our Friday Monthly Spirit Day Celebrated the Arts and all the grade levels had arts themed cheers in support of Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month! I put together a video to share with the students that highlighted some of the activities we have done in the last year: Also, this week parents have been a buzz about the new Artsonia app that came out this week and are really loving having their child's artwork and gallery at their fingertips for easy brag moments! If you have not see the app do check it out! Not only can you see your child's art work on the go but you can easily take a photo of their creations at home and add to their personal gallery! http://www.artsonia.com/apps/ PARENTS its FREE! No more worrying about throwing away your child's artwork. Publish it into a permanent archive of your child's artwork on this free kids online art museum. This app enables parents to take photos of their child's artwork and upload it to their child's online art gallery on Artsonia.com. Once the artwork is published on Artsonia, child artists can enter contests, family members can leave comments for the artist and order keepsakes with their child's artwork on it. Prior to using this app, parents must create an account at www.artsonia.com. COMING SOON: In the coming updates for the app, Parents, Teachers and Visitors will be able to browse artwork, leave comments for artists, and even order keepsakes with the artwork on it. Stay tuned! In closure I want to share a little bit of joy from our Arts Spirit Day, guaranteed to leave you smiling! |
